YOUR ACCESS TO HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES IS UNDER THREAT
Why? The Medicines Act of 1968 is being simplified, which is a good thing because much duplication is being removed. However, as a result there are some key elements, which could adversely affect your access to homeopathic medicines if the proposals go into force.
What will happen to my access to homeopathic medicines?
If the government endorses current proposals by the MHRA, the following would occur:
You would no longer able to get homeopathic medicines by phone or online. To get any unlicensed homeopathic medicine a face-to-face consultation would be required at a registered pharmacy. There are literally thousands of unlicensed homeopathic remedies and these make up the majority of homeopathic prescriptions, while there are only 50 licensed homeopathic medicines. This will also mean you cannot legally buy unlicensed homeopathic medicines online or over the phone as you currently do.
Homeopaths would not be able to dispense or prescribe medicines to you.
Homeopathic practitioners would not be able to dispense unlicensed homeopathic medicines to their patients. This is because homeopaths are not recognised by this law as being supplementary prescribers and it will be illegal for homeopathic pharmacies to supply them with the essential (unlicensed) medicines required for their patients.
You would have to get your homeopathic medicines personally at a handful of licensed homeopathic pharmacies in Britain. Hundreds of thousands of people who currently have prescriptions filled for unlicensed homeopathic medicines will be unable to obtain their urgent medicines. The estimated 6 million users of homeopathy in Britain cannot be expected to be supplied medicines face-to-face by less than five licensed premises.
What you can do to stop this from happening!
Write to your MP, or better still go and see your MP – especially if your MP sits on the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments or is involved with Health or Pharmacy.
We are not asking anyone to move mountains. All that needs to be done is for a small change to be made to Section 10 of the proposed new Medicines Act which will allow greater freedom to dispense remedies to practitioners and could also overcome the face-to-face issue which is unworkable.

It is anticipated that the new Medicines Act will be put before the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments for approval in late May/early June for implementation in July, so your swift action is critical!

A few helpful points that could be used in your letter:
It is not necessary or recommended to include all the text suggested here. It is critical that you personalise your letter with your own views and experiences. Overall, try to keep the letter short (a page or less), and emphasise any points that are relevant to the particular MP.
• I’m deeply concerned that a draft proposal set out by the MHRA as part of its consolidation and review of the Medicines Act 1968 could have a significant impact on my ability as a patient to access homeopathic medicines in the UK
• In its current form section 10 of the proposal would only allow unlicensed homeopathic medicines to be bought directly from a pharmacist face-to-face, in effect outlawing the purchase of these medicines over the telephone or via online ordering. This would mean I would be deprived of the medicines that I have found to be so beneficial to my health
• There are only five homeopathic pharmacies in the UK, so most homeopathic medicines are ordered from these specialist pharmacies either by phone or via the Internet. The enforcement of section 10 in its current form will have serious consequences for the six million people in the UK who choose to use this form of complementary medicine
• If not revised the proposal would also have serious consequences for more than 2,000 homeopathic practitioners, many of whom would find it impossible to treat patients like myself because they can no longer obtain the appropriate homeopathic medicine
• I understand that it is central to government health policy to increase patient choice. Section 10 will eliminate choice for people like me who want to be treated with homeopathy
I would like to call on your support in getting the Health Minister to make a small change to the proposed language of the revised Medicines Act to ensure that I have continued access to a full range of homeopathic medicines and that my right to choose homeopathic treatment is maintained.

You know who they are, the scared people who are constantly attacking what they are unable to comprehend.

I have treated a few cases so far here in Cornwall, and they all seem to respond well and quickly.

Don’t let all the hype fill you with fear and anxiety : instead I recommend the following:

• Avoid junk food (sugar, especially)
• Stimulants (coffee and tea – and chocolate) … they will drain your energy
• Rest adequately
• Drink plenty of good water
• Avoid contact with sick people (your GP Surgery! etc)
• Take some GOOD quality Vits and Minerals (Solgar, Quest and Viridian … they are food-matrix (i.e. they came FROM food, so can be assimilated properly)
• Plenty of garlic (and parsley)

Over the last months homeopaths all over the world have been busy treating people with suspected or diagnosed swine flu and dispensing prophylactic flu remedies, such as Influenzinum and Oscillococcinum.

 

Some of our opponents have been “outraged” that we do this, claiming that we are endangering people’s lives. Some have even called us murderers practising witchcraft. Well, here are some facts:

 

·         To date no death or negative effects have been reported in patients of homeopathy treated for influenza, or having received prophylactic influenza remedies. If anybody can provide us with evidence to the contrary, please contact us with exact details.

 

·          Last Swine flu outbreak:  In February 1976, an outbreak of swine flu struck Fort Dix Army base in New Jersey, killing a 19-year-old private and infecting hundreds of soldiers. Concerned that the U.S. was on the verge of a devastating epidemic, President Gerald Ford ordered a nationwide vaccination program at a cost of $135 million (some $500 million in today’s money). Within weeks, reports surfaced of people developing Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralyzing nerve disease that can be caused by the vaccine. By April, more than 30 people had died of the condition. Facing protests, federal officials abruptly cancelled the program on Dec. 16. ·         There is good research showing that homeopathic flu remedies are effective: 

 

Homeopathic remedies are commonly used in the treatment of influenza all over the world. Since 1971 there have been 15 published research trials investigating the prevention and the treatment of influenza with homeopathy. Of the eight trials that investigated prevention of flu, half demonstrated a positive beneficial effect from the homeopathic treatment. Of the seven trials that investigated the treatment of influenza with homeopathy, five clearly demonstrated a beneficial effect from the homeopathic treatment; the other two trials produced inconclusive results. Deans, E M., (2004) ‘The trials of homeopathy’  

 

Three of the studies investigating the treatment of influenza were relatively large in the number of participants (487 patients, 300 patients, and 372 patients), and all were multi-centered placebo-controlled and double-blind (two of the three trials were also randomised). I have dealt with a few cases that have responded well; it’s no big deal if you keep as fit as possible, avoid the ‘bad stuff’ (sugar, alcohol, caffeine, not enough rest, not enough water etc).

I was alarmed to read that the Tamiflu apparently has the same mercury-based presevative that used to be in the MMR vaccine …. mercury is a neurotoxin!    Could you imagine the uproar if homeopaths put such stuff in their medicines?

To homeopaths, this is ‘encouraging’ in that Science is slowly starting to wake up to the idea that  innoculation is not all that it is cracked up to be.

What with Ducks being so high-profile in the UK Parliamentary Expenses scandal – wait for Duckgate – perhaps I might as well jump on the bandwagon here : Regarding vaccination … If it looks like a duck, it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck … 

They (however) stop short of saying /admitting that perhaps the vaccination was implicated … ho, hum!

“Organic – the benefits “A letter from Soil Association policy director Peter Melchett was published in the Financial Times in response to Michael Skapinker’s comment (18 May).

Peter writes, “Michael Skapinker also repeats a number of now completely discredited criticisms of organic food, for example, that it is no healthier and even that it’s more dangerous than non-organic. The scientific evidence that the opposite is true is now overwhelming, and widely accepted. For example, the Department of Health’s just published report, ‘Sustainable food: a guide for hospitals’, says that organic food ‘has the highest proportions of beneficial minerals, essential amino acids and vitamins… provides environmental benefits, particularly for biodiversity, and… benefits the rural economy… hospitals should specify food from farming systems that minimise harm to the environment, such as certified organic produce’.”

A letter from Mr Yan Swiderski is also published. “Industrial farming methods spread millions of tons of nitrates and pesticides across the planet every year.
